MWGB Preparation Guide

🎉 How to Make the Most of Your Bash Experience

Here are some pro tips from repeat attendees. See something missing? Drop us an email and we’ll add it!

📝 Plan Ahead
Bash is almost impossible not to have fun at—but a little planning goes a long way! Pack your caching TOTTs and camping essentials. Forgot something? Don’t worry—Walmart is just a few miles down the road.

🖊️ Register
It’s free to attend, and you don’t have to register—but it really helps! Registration makes planning easier for us andmakes your life easier at the event, with pre-printed poker run cards and smoother check-ins.

⛺ Book Your Lodging Early

  • Camping reservations open in the Spring—watch for announcements.

  • Returning campers get a one-week grace period (Squatter's Rights) to reserve the same site. After that, it’s first come, first served.

  • Booking early = less stress, a guaranteed spot, and flexibility to arrive any time after the gates open (even after hours!).

  • Hotels also fill fast—reserve early to get your top choice.

📅 Check the Event Schedule
Our schedule evolves right up to the last minute! Check often to catch updates, new activities, or cancellations. Planning ahead helps you:

  • Plan your caching routes

  • Grab lunch around scheduled events

  • Maximize your chances for fun and prizes

📡 Pull a GPX / Pocket Query
Load up a pocket query with plenty of caches—on-venue and off-venue. Set it up early, remember to refresh it before you hit the road, and make a list of your “must-dos.” New caches often pop up right before the event!

🔄 Bring Your Pathtags
MWGB has the biggest pathtag exchange ever! Bring enough to trade and don't forget to swap with the event team to score limited edition MWGB pathtags—available only at the event.

💺 Bring a Chair
Camp chairs are perfect for hanging out around the fire or relaxing after a long day of caching. You’ll want one!

☀️🦟 Sunscreen & Bug Spray
Most activities are outdoors—protect yourself from sunburn and pesky insects.

🚲 Bring a Bike
The fairgrounds are big! Bikes help you get around faster, especially if your campsite is a bit far from Spangler Arena.

📡 Don’t Forget Your GPS
Cell signal can be spotty around the fairgrounds, so bring a GPS or an offline list of caches to stay on track.
