Vending / Licensing Policy

Our polices for vending at MWGB and licensing MWGB trademarks for products can be found in full detail on our licensing page.

Welcome / Event Details

You have found the homepage for the Midwest Geobash. The MWGB is one of the world's largest annual Geocaching events. MWGB 2008 is expected to draw over 1800 attendees from all over the United States and world for a weekend of Geocaching-centric fun, fellowship, and learning. Wondering what Geocaching is? Come on out and see for yourself! You can also study up a little before the event at Geocaching.com or post your questions in our website forums.

In 2007, we established the Midwest Geocaching Foundation as a nonprofit to manage the event year to year and to hold the resources required to put on the event and consider future support initiatives for Geocaching organizations in the Midwest and beyond. In late 2007, we filed for 501(c)(3) status with the IRS. We expect a positive determination in the August timeframe, under which condition any sponsorship contributions are tax deductible under prevailing tax laws.

Silent Auction Details

Each year it takes hundreds of man hours and over $20,000 to put on Midwest Geobash! We rely on the generous support of our sponsors, sales of event merchandise, and our silent auction to make ends meet. Look around MWGB 2008 and you will see a lot of improvements and additional resources being used to create new and interesting event experiences. You'll also note our zero dollar entry fee, enormous amounts of free giveaways, and low priced on-venue camping. All these things are possible thanks to the support of you!

Starting in 2008, MWGB will include as part of the Flea Market that showcases talents and wares from the Geocaching Universe and beyond a silent auction with proceeds to go to event expenses.

This is a fun and voluntary way for attendees to contribute to MWGB. Do you knit? Make quilts? Are you famous for cache containers? This is your chance to show off and help our great event in the process.

Donating

We are now seeking donations to the MWGB silent auction. If you have something you'd like to contribute, please go fill out our donation form. This will help us easily compile the list of expected donations and to plan for space requirements. Then, when you arrive at the event, simply make your way to the Flea Market in the Merchant's Building and drop off your item. We'll look it up and prepare the bid sheet and place the item in the auction.

Participating

Check out our schedule of events for when the auction will be running and stop by to peruse the many items and place a bid on a bid sheet. Simply write in your name and a bid amount at least $.50 more than the previous bid and it'll put you in the running. When the auction ends, we'll compile all the results and will have a receipt ready for you to pay with at check out. We accept Cash, Personal Checks, and Credit Card payment.

You fill out the form! We'll create the bid sheet! Come join the fun and support our great event at the same time!
